Praise (3)
“I think it sounded better than the rode ntg-2”
VideoCurtis Judd · June 2018Watch at 10:03
“this microphone does have a relatively flat frequency response which will give you a nice and neutral tone”
VideoPodcastage · February 2019Watch at 5:14
“it sounds very full in the low end you still have a lot of detail up top and all around for vo I think it sounds rather nice”
VideoPodcastage · February 2019Watch at 3:59
Complaints (2)
“I definitely still prefer the sound of my DPA 40:17 be over the S mic -”
VideoCurtis Judd · June 2018Watch at 10:14
“if you're looking at this thing for voice over I do think think that you could potentially run into some proximity effect issues especially if you have a deeper voice”
VideoPodcastage · February 2019Watch at 6:25
Noise handlingMostly negative: Leans negative.Handles noise decently but lacks high-pass filter, needs wind protection outdoors.2 reviews›
Praise (1)
“overall I would say it did really quite well a lot of shotgun microphones are all over the place on that front especially for the less expensive shotgun microphones”
VideoCurtis Judd · June 2018Watch at 6:30
Complaints (4)
“however if you are hand booming you are still going to need a shock mount just like you would with any other microphone”
VideoCurtis Judd · June 2018Watch at 8:49
“it does not have a high-pass filter built into the microphone itself so you're going to need to rely on your recorder to do that”
VideoCurtis Judd · June 2018Watch at 9:25
“if you are going to be using this microphone in windy environments I do think that you would benefit from having a blimp or a dead cat because this thing doesn't have a high pass filter and it actually boosts some of those frequencies below 100 htz and that may lead to some issues with wind noise”
VideoPodcastage · February 2019Watch at 7:04
“I do imagine that some boom operators would like to have a high pass filter on this thing especially if they're working outside just so they have another option at reducing the potential wind noise”

VideoPodcastage · February 2019Watch at 5:07
“if you're looking for an XLR shotgun microphone under $500 that has a bit more of a neutral sound quality to it and it's built really well so it will seemingly last you a long time then absolutely I would recommend this microphone”
