  • I loaded OBS and started recording, fired up Marvel Rivals, kept Edge open with a pile of tabs, and then started rendering a nasty layered 4K project in DaVinci Resolve — all at once.

  • Battery is a quiet win for the 17: on my real-world PCMark Modern Office test it lasted 16 hours 20 minutes , and both crush last year's Pro 17 (11 hours).
  • One Pixel feature I've used constantly is Gboard Rambler : hit the enhanced mic button and just talk — ramble, say "um" fifteen times, change your mind mid-sentence — and instead of transcribing every word, it cleans it up and reorganizes your thoughts into something coherent, right inside the keyboard.

  • If the 16 dropped well below the 17, this flips and we have a different conversation. But as it stands today, the gram Pro 17 is the one I bought.
  • This is the brand new ASUS ProArt PZ14, and I've been living with it for the past several weeks.

Google also switched the modem from Qualcomm to MediaTek this generation, and despite Pixel's history of connectivity complaints, I've had no problems — calls, battery drain, and reception have all been on par with my S26 Ultra.

I've been using the iPhone 17 Pro Max for most of the past year — there were a couple of months where I switched to the iPhone Air, but for the majority of the year this was my main phone.

  • Because I spent so much of this year on thinner phones like the iPhone Air and some thin foldables, every time I come back to the Pro Max it feels like a brick.
  • I've been running the iOS 27 public beta for about a month, and the crazy part is it's been more stable than iOS 26
  • iOS 26 has been one of the buggiest iOS experiences I've had in a long time , which is strange because "Apple makes the hardware and software, so it just works" is a core reason people buy iPhones.
  • My Fold 7, a year in, looks and even sounds worse than at launch — like an old rusted machine.
  • There's been a lot of hate around the Pixel 11 series, especially on performance and the price hike, but it's not that simple — I've genuinely enjoyed using this phone.
